The trip of the year! Enjoy 4 fabulous days kayaking at Ningaloo and then travel by 4WD coach to Karijini followed by the Chichester Ranges. WeĆll paddle crystal clear water and hike glorious gorges and challenging peaks on this camping tour.
Fly into Exmouth, out of Karratha. However there is the option to do just the paddle section or just the walking section. Ningaloo Reef is a marine park with outstanding natural features and attractions. Turtles, dugongs, humpback whales , rays, fish galore, dolphins, ospreys all reside there and we have a good chance of seeing many of these animals from our kayaks. The snorkelling is phenomenal. This section of the trip is organized by Capricorn Seakayaking and guided by Hal Paine.
The kayaks will be 2 person sea kayaks and all paddling and safety gear is provided. We conduct this paddle trip from a base camp so each day you return to the same location.
Karijini is the second largest National Park in WA and has around 480 recorded plant species, 133 birds, 30 mammals and 90 reptiles and amphibians. Its rocks originated as fine grained sediment on an ancient sea floor 2.5 million years ago. The sediments were rich in iron and silica and over millions of years were changed into hard rock. Sea level changes resulted in rivers cutting through the rock creating the gorges we see today.
This second section of the trip is operated in conjunction with Coates Wildlife Tours, With their guide Rick Curtis and myself. Walks will be easy to strenuous, but always only carrying a day pack and always with the option to turn back when you wish. All walks are less than 10km in distance, but the peaks are 6-8 hours in duration. The terrain is rocky and there is a lot of ascending and descending.
