The best part of Western Australia! Karijini is the second largest National Park in WA . Its rocks originated as fine grained sediment on an ancient sea floor 2.5 million years ago. The sediments were rich in iron and silica and over millions of years were changed into hard rock. Sea level changes resulted in rivers cutting through the rock creating the gorges we see today. We’ll have 5 days to explore these gorges, clambering our way over rocks and cooling off with swims in majestic surroundings.

We’ll also climb Mt Meharry and the fabulous Mt Bruce.Then we move on to the Chichester Ranges where we’ll relax at the oasis of Millstream and walk the Camel Trail. As you fly into Newman and out of Karratha, we’ve kept the driving to a minimum.  This is another joint venture with Coates Wildlife Tours and again we’ll have Rick Curtis, a very knowledgeable naturalist, guiding the trip.

Walks will be easy to strenuous, but always only carrying a day pack and mostly with the option to turn back when you wish. Most walks are less than 10km in distance, but the peaks are 12-16km and 6-8 hours in duration. The terrain is rocky and there is a lot of ascending and descending.
