Digital Photography Workshop at Dwellingup
The wet weather we encountered on our photographic trip to Dwellingup didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the potential professional photographers who spent 3 days exploring how to better use their digital cameras. Under the careful guidance of Karen Castle, we gradually expanded the capability of our cameras. Banksia Springs was a great venue- a very comfortable lodge and very photogenic surroundings.
Roger, despite claiming he had taken 500 lousy shots of Karijini, produced a very impressive one of Bassendean. And now he knows how to doctor his photos so they’ll all look great!
The rest of us were a bit more basic, mastering macro, athletic movement (simulated by Gail, Pam and Carol), the use of the flash and some tricks for photography in different lighting situations. We did a bushwalk on the Bibb track which provided some opportunities for photographing fungi, flowers and trees. The quaint cottages at Banksia Springs offered both shelter from the violent rain of the last day and interesting photograhic subjects. Jill was especially surprised at being converted from technophobe to a technophile! And I was very pleased to be able to employ various hints I learnt the following week in the Stirling Ranges- see the Queen of Sheba blog!
