Easy Slow Cooked Pulled Pork Recipe

This pulled pork recipe is so simple and succulent,
it will quickly become a favourite!

  • Prep Time: 5 mins
  • Cook Time: 10-12 hours
  • Total Time: 12 hours and 5 mins
  • Serves: 12-15

Ingredients

  • Pork Shoulder or leg – deboned (approximate 200 g per person)
  • 20 dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • 10 or more Tablespoons dry spice rub

Dry Rub Ingredients

  • ¼ cup smoked paprika
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 tablespoon cumin
  • onion powder
  • garlic powder
  • 1 pinch cayenne pepper
  • 3 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sea salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Place meat in the slow cooker. Add dashes of Worcestershire sauce to the top of the meat until it is well covered. Then sprinkle heavily with dry rub. Cook on low setting of slow cooker for  about 10 hours. Leave meat in the slow cooker on the “warm” setting for about 4 more hours or until the meat easily will pull with two forks.
  2. Internal temperature of pork roast should be between 190º F and 205º F.
  3. Remove from slow cooker and allow to rest about 5-10 minutes. Then, slice or pull for serving, basting with pan juices from slow cooker.
  4. Serve warm with mashed potatoes and a simple slaw salad.

 

**Vegetarians, do not despair! You too can enjoy this simple recipe. Substitute the pork with Jackfruit, either fresh or from a can. If from a can, get the ones brined in just in water instead of syrup and if you can only find jackfruit in syrup, give it a thorough rinse before use. Other popular substitutes are TVP, lentils/beans, firm tofu + beancurd skin, gluten/seitan pieces, walnuts or other meat substitues.
